Working for Devon County Council
Our staff are our greatest asset in providing excellent services and we are not complacent in knowing what that takes. We are investing significantly in new technology, new ways of working, learning and development, reviewing rewards and benefits to improve flexibility and salary progression. We have a committed and dedicated workforce, whose efforts we value and reward with flexibility, career progression and the option to work in a wide variety of settings.
Devon County Council’s Children and Young People’s Services Directorate provides a huge range of services to help and support children, young people and families in the county. By combining Education and Social Services, we are able to provide a responsive and integrated approach to the delivery of services, whilst maintaining a focus on ensuring the needs of the child or young person are being met.
We work with children and young people in a range of areas including:
- Children in Care and Care Leavers (including Fostering and Adoption)
- Safeguarding
- Joint Agency Service
- Assessment and Early Intervention
- Early Years and Childcare
- Family Support Services
- Schools
- Integrated Youth Support Services
Our staff turnover rate is lower than the national average but in order to consistently improve the quality of our services, we need to continue building upon the strengths of our existing workforce, by recruiting people with skills, knowledge, experience and relevant qualifications.
