The Social Worker Temp Bank

Temp Solutions, Devon County Council’s in-house temp agency, is putting together an exciting new Social Workers relief bank. You’ll need to be a qualified and experienced social worker to join. As well as having CRB disclosure, GSCC registration (soon to be HPC) and a social work degree (or equivalent), you’ll need at least a year’s post qualifying experience and five continuous years of references.

We’ll have a range of casual placements in both the Adult and Children sectors in the following areas:

Children and young people

Adults

As a relief Social Worker, you’ll provide a high quality and effective social work service. You’ll respond to the needs of clients and their families promptly and professionally, working to statutory guidelines and our own policies, standards and guidelines. You’ll assess need, and plan and deliver focused intervention to safeguard and protect clients, promoting positive outcomes at all times. For everyone here at Devon County Council, it’s about working to best practice while promoting integrated agency approaches for the benefit of each and every client.
As you’d expect, placements will vary in length and location. You might be covering for absence or working on a specific project. And while we can’t guarantee it, we’ll try to match a placement to a location that’s convenient for you.

So, how do you get onto the Social Worker Temp Bank?

It’s simple. You’ll need to a complete an application form online. Make sure to fill in the supporting statement about how you meet each of the essential criteria and as many of the desirables as possible.

How the process works

Providing you meet the necessary criteria, you’ll be invited in for an interview. The interview will take place with an accredited manager, including Practice Manager. Now, as well as a verbal analysis test, you’ll complete a medical form, a CRB application and a Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 form. We’ll also ask to see your qualification certificates, GCSS certificate (soon to be HPC) and, where appropriate, eligibility to work documents.

We’ll run tests and interviews throughout the year, and we’ll aim to book you in at the first available date. Once we’ve completed all of our checks on references, CRB and GSCC registration, we’ll be back in touch with your placement information as soon as a match comes up.
