Welcome

We are delighted to receive your interest in Devon’s Children and Young People’s Services and especially for the role of social worker. We do hope that you will find the contents of this micro site useful and informative.

Across all the agencies and professional groupings in Devon we are passionate and committed to wanting to do our very best for children, young people and their families.

In Devon we know that when you scratch beneath the surface, for many of the 164,000 children and young people living in our idyllic county, life isn’t always as perfect as it seems. However, we see a brighter future for all of them. Which is why, as a progressive, forward-thinking authority; we’re committed to ensuring they have the best possible start to life.

We know that to ensure we are doing our best for our young people we need social workers of the highest quality who are committed to delivering the best care they can. That is why CYPS in Devon has a major focus on developing and supporting social workers who can lead practice and deliver innovative solutions.  That is why our Children and Young People's Plan, produced in collaboration with all our partners, is clear that our services must be of the highest quality, make the best possible use of our resources and must be available to children, young people and their families, based solely on their needs.

We are committed to involving children, young people and their families in the planning and delivery of services. We’ve worked hard to improve access to information about services, achieve early resolution of children and young people’s problems and build an approach to integration based on Children’s Centres, Extended Schools, Youth Enquiry Services and Joint Agency Teams.
